Now I’m not into gaming at all but sales of the fantasy role-playing game Warhammer surged in the six months to November as people continued to spend more on their hobbies in lockdown.
Games Workshop, which makes the game, saw sales hit a record £186.8m in the period, up 26%.This was despite most of the Nottingham firm’s 529 shops being restricted or closed due to Covid rules. It’s good to see a business flourishing like this, but I sort of worry about the people sitting at home playing it. I have this picture of the players being in their own world, escaping from the bizarre world outside. It’s unreal, bizarre but on reflection a great idea to find something to do that takes you away from all the doom and gloom outside.
I may become a gamer yet!
